Keller, your story is a delight! I am intrigued by the relationship between Aurelia, the little girl, and the Knight!
In a world where we quickly label and thus surrender the truth about people to preconceived boxes, your Knight reveals the dangers of that.. . He reveals what we lose. He begins as an aging, bumbling Knight, a fun character in a story about dragons. We see his deeper, nobler self when he reveals a potentially alternate motivation on the part of Aurelia. It inspires the reader to challenge preconceptions of both the Knight, and the dragon.
Then your character of the innocent little girl who brings the beast a tattered gift... it's like she's living into hope.
